A minor set back, Camp NaNoWriMo, Mother Bears

I pulled my quad muscle yesterday which is going to set me back with my plans to workout every day.  I was outside with my dog and she decided to take off down the street after another dog.  I started running after her and then I felt my right quad muscle seize up on me…wow that sure was painful.  I had to keep hobbling along to catch up with my dog – luckily she decided to stop running.  When I got back in the house I applied an ice pack to my leg and it took almost 30 minutes for the muscle to relax; I also took some Advil to help with the pain.  Later in the evening I started applying heat and trying to gently stretch the muscle and I’ve been doing that on & off today as well.  It definitely feels better today but I have to walk slow…there will be no hurrying!  I’m sure I’ll need to wait at least a week before I can hope to work out again; dang, and I was making such good progress.

On another subject, I’m getting really excited for Camp NaNoWriMo which starts Aug 1st.  I’ve never written a novel before, or anything close to a novel, so I’m really anxious to get started to see where this takes me.  I have a rough draft of an idea that should provide me with enough angles that I can get to the 50K word finish line.

And lastly, I’ve gotten on a kick knitting for the Mother Bear Project (www.motherbearproject.org).  I’ve finished one bear and I’m working on another, this helps me improve my knitting skills while contributing to a charity…it’s a win, win. ttfn

  1. Thanks for visiting my page. Looks like you’ve got your hands full too. I’m Saunya on NaNoWriMo if you want to message me over there. I’ve done it for 3 years and usually only make about 30,000 words, but I have a great time. This is my first year doing it in camp so I’m hoping that I will finish without the holidays looming over me. Best of luck.
