Starting Over with Run for God

It’s been a week since my last run (which I didn’t post) and things have changed.  I decided to join a running group – Run for God – at my church and as such our first week of the program was last week.  However I didn’t run at all last week, I reasoned with myself that I was already at week 8 in the C25k program so I didn’t need to run the first week – silly.

So out I went this morning and I restarted on Week 2 of the program.  I didn’t follow the prompts to run/walk exactly as prescribed though; Week 2 is 90 seconds run, 2 min walk.  I ran the first 90 seconds, the 2 min walk and the second 90 seconds and then slowed to walk for 2 mins.  I repeated that 2 more times.  All in all it was a good run and I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t completely exhausted when the work out was over.

During Week 6, 7 and 8 of C25k I was literally exhausted at the end of the workouts, maybe that’s why I took a week off.  I don’t mind feeling tired or fatigued at the end but I don’t think I should feel totally depleted.  I decided to restart the program with a group (Run for God is basically C25k with bible study) hoping that it will provide the motivation to “stick with it” to the end and who couldn’t use a better connection with God?.  I’m also hoping that by starting over I can improve my pace a little…I’m shooting for under 11:00/mile…wish me luck!

  1. That run group sounds awesome! I’m thinking maybe I need a little peer motivation… I can’t seem to get past 13 minutes without having to stop and catch my breath. It’s a bit frustrating, to say the least…
