I’ve been a bit busy since my last post, let’s see: I’ve spent 5 days in Jamaica, took a day trip to Myrtle Beach and finished piecing the top to a baby size quilt.
First things first, we haven’t had a real vacation in more than two years so last month I went to Expedia.com and checked for last minute get away deals. The Riu Palace in Montego Bay (all inclusive/adult only) popped up and after checking with a friend who books travel much more frequently than I do, I booked a four night stay 2/5-2/9. The night before, we dropped off our fur baby (Sammi, a mini-schnauzer) with a good friend and we were all set.
Our direct flight to Jamaica was uneventful – just the way I like it! After checking in and getting to our room, we quickly changed and headed for the swim-up bar. We met a group of folks from a company that was there as a bonus trip – needless to say they were partying pretty hard! We hung out at the pool bar for the rest of the afternoon and then got cleaned up for dinner. We didn’t bother making reservations at any of the specialty restaurants, the buffet was good enough for us. The next four days were pretty much a repeat of the first and then all too quickly it was time to go home. Here are a few shots:
We got home Monday evening around 9pm (after picking up our fur baby) and then got ready to leave again the next morning for a day trip to Myrtle Beach (4 hours each way). This was not an extension of our vacation; rather we went down to look at a house that was going to be put on the market by the weekend and if we liked it we wanted to be able to make them an offer before they listed it with a Realtor. Unfortunately it wasn’t the right house for us but the day wasn’t completely lost – we have friends that live in MB so we hooked up for lunch and got to have a short visit before we headed back home. Needless to say we were exhausted when we got home – not sure I would ever do that again!!
Last but not least, I was seriously itching to do some sewing the whole time we were away and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new fabrics I received last week. I jumped in after dinner tonight and finished piecing the top to a baby quilt. I had initially planned to use 4 fat quarters for the top and 4 others for the back (see this post) but after putting these first 4 fat quarters together, I think it would be way too ‘busy’ looking to have more prints/patterns on the reverse side. So now I need to get some solid color for the backing – oh what a shame, I need to go fabric shopping – lol!
Here’s a shot of the top, it measures 28 1/2 x 38. (It’s laying on the Crossword Puzzle quilt that I still need to finish!)
I feel like I’ve done a lot in the last 10 days but I haven’t run at all 😮
The last time I ran was the Super Bowl 4 miler on Feb 1st…and it’s supposed to be in the single digits here this weekend…yikes! Looks like I’ll be spending time at Anytime Fitness on the treadmill.
