Lots to share

I don’t have any finishes this week but I have lots of pictures to share 😉

First up, I finally laid out all the t-shirts for the commission memories quilt I need to make. It’s a little messy but it gives me a template to follow once I have them all cut and stabilized.

Next up, I FINALLY got around to making a test block for my design drawing – I looked back in Instagram when I originally posted this picture, it was Sept 2016!!! Oh my, I had no idea that much time had passed 😦

My original idea would be to have each grid square be 4″ finished – that would make the quilt 80″ overall. I was not ready to take that on so I visually divided the quilt into 4 quadrants and decided to have each grid square be 2″ and I set about making one of the quadrants.

And here it is!!!! Woohoo! Squeeeeeeee! Can you tell I’m a little excited? In the drawing I used the only pencils I had which gave me a holiday feel but I wasn’t in the mood for that right now so I pulled 4 contrasting fabrics that I had enough on had to finish the quilt.

And then I just HAD to see what it would look like finished so I put the picture in Word and rotated it to make this mock up. Oh boy!!! Now I really gotta finish this!!! 🙂  Looking at this mock up makes me think of a poppy flower…is it just me?

If that wasn’t enough excitement, I happened to stumble upon a local quilt guild having a quilt show this weekend so of course I HAD to walk through. Here are just a few of the gorgeous quilts at the show

I was so intrigued by this last one that I went online to find the pattern…and purchased it in .pdf!!! Ugh, now I need to master Y seams!!!
