WBOYC is a monthly blog prompt that stands for “What’s been on your calendar”. I’m not sure if I’ll do this every month but I figured I’d give it a shot!!

Appointments
No big trips or events planned this month. Both DH and I had appts with our Dermatologists. His was a follow up on the basal cell spot he had removed on his forehead and mine was to remove an ugly mole on my neck I’ve hated for years. Both are fine.

Outings
I started a neighborhood sewing club back in October and it’s been great, we planned to skip the December meeting due to the holidays and unfortuantely January was cancelled due to a few folks being sick. I’m looking forward to getting together again in February.
I went to lunch a few times with the neighborhood ladies – the first was with the organized Ladies Lunch crew. We went to Bubba’s Fish Camp & Smokehouse in Myrtle Beach and we had a very good turnout of about 36 folks.
My next lunch was with just three other ladies. One of them is going to Aruba next month and the rest of us have already been so we talked about all our recommendations. We tried a new to all of us restaurant called Roca Roja’s in North Myrtle and it was very good. We all said we’d be back.
We have friends we know originally from Maryland that just relocated to Myrtle from Tampa (and before that they lived in Colorado!) She recently lost about 20lbs and wanted to get some new clothes as her old clothes were ‘hanging off her’! We planned a whole day of shopping and lunch – it was great. We had really nice weather too, around 70 degrees!!
Reading
I’ve joined the neighborhood Book Club so I’ve been uping my reading game. The book chosen for January was “The Words We Whisper by Mary Ellen Taylor”. I’m not listing it in my January reads because I finished it in December. It was a very good book and I highly recommend it.
Here are the books I finished this month and added to my Goodreads

Quilting
I have three active projects this month. The first one is a bucket list quilt that I’ve wanted to make for several years called Elephant Abstractions. I’m a little over halfway finished with the top

Next is a 24 week quilt-along with Fat Quarter Shop called Sewcialites2 that started back in October. So far I’ve kept up with all the blocks – a first for me!

And the third project this month is a scrappy sew-along with Scrap Fabric Love. It’s a scrappy cross/plus block meant to use nothing but scraps from my stash… and I did just that! I’m even using the leftover rectangles to create a piano key border to make the top a little bigger. So far I’ve got all the blocks made and some of the border pieced.

Oh, I almost forgot about the cases I made for the Safelight project being run by Carole of From My Carolina Home. I whipped up 4 sets and will put them in the mail this week

WOTY
Lastly, I was a little late figuring out my word of the year but I finally landed on: EXPERIENCES. I want this year to be filled with things I’ve done rather than things I’ve acquired. So far this month I’ve been out to lunch several times with friends/neighbors, gone on a shopping day with another friend and I’ve been to the local library 3 times!! For some reason I’ve been restricting myself to visiting the library once a month – why? I have no idea!!!

That’s about all for now. I’m linking up with Deb’s World WBOYC

Those case sets are perfect, great fabric choices, thank you!

Wow you are very busy in your retirement! I am impressed you finished 4 books in a month and that you are staying so busy with your quilting projects, not to mention all your outings. Hope you continue to have wonderful “experiences”!
