Memory quilt completed

After weeks of procrastination – I finally, FINALLY completed the memory quilt. Last Sunday I hunkered down and did the quilting and binding. None of it was hard, I just kept putting it off. This is a reinforcement that I need to STOP taking jobs for these kinds of quilts.

I’m still trying to figure out the best place here at the new house to take quilt pictures…

DH will be traveling back to the other house next weekend so he’ll take this back with him and meet up with the customer.

A few weeks ago I dropped a plate on the kitchen floor…it was a heavy Pfaltzgraff plate from a set I bought new for the house. It not only shattered but it chipped the side of one of the floor tiles UGH! Every time I walked into the kitchen I could see the dark brown spot where it was chipped so I decided I would get some fingernail polish at the Dollar Tree and see if I could make it blend in.

Other folks would’ve taken a ‘before’ picture but I was so excited to try this out I completely forgot!! Here are a few shots of ‘after’:

This first one from standing height, I’ve circled where the chip was

Yay! It worked!! I don’t even think about that darn chip anymore 🙂 And if any of the polish wears off over time I have plenty left to do another patch up.

After living here for a few months you’d think we would’ve walked the beach many many times by now… but no. We’ve eaten at waterfront restaurants but until last week we had not gotten our feet into the sand and into the ocean. Let’s hope it doesn’t take as long for it to happen again, LOL

We do not like to swim in the ocean so we spent the next day at our community pool. Most days there are no more than 5 people there 🙂

I dropped 1.4 at WW at this weeks’ weigh in 🙂 My running total so far is 9.4…I can definitely feel a difference in my clothes. The waist band on my pants isn’t choking me and my underarms aren’t getting pinched by my shirts :-p  I’m not having any issues following the points plan and I’m definitely eating a lot more fruits & veggies.

Today is the last day of the estate sale at our other house. I’m hoping most everything sells but DH will see for himself what’s left when he goes up next weekend. The estate sale company said they have dealers who may come and buy what’s left for a ‘lot’ price, that would be fine too.

That’s all for now…have a great rest of your weekend!

Short & sweet

I’ll be keeping this brief today, we’re driving back to our other house later this morning to go through our stuff one last time before the estate sale. The sale was supposed to be this weekend coming but because we couldn’t get up there before now, it’s being put off until the following weekend so she can adequately advertise for it. I sure will be glad when all of this is behind us!!

I finished my Meadowland quilt top yesterday and now, of course, I wish I had made the larger version 😦 I used a FQ bundle I had been hoarding and only had enough to make the 48×64 size. I could’ve added some solids or low volume prints from my stash to stretch it but I didn’t know enough about the pattern at that time to do that. So…I guess I’ll just have to make another one! Hahaha

I also got the memorial quilt basted…woohoo! I pulled my ironing board outside yesterday morning and spray basted it while the patio was still in the shade (sorry no pics). Before I start my go-to meander for the quilting, I’ll need to clean out the bobbin area and put in a fresh needle. I’m going to use a bit bigger needle (100/16) because many of the pieces of clothing are thicker than t-shirts, I’ll probably test it out on a few pieces of scraps first just to be sure it will work 😉

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another positive week with WW, down .6 !! I wasn’t sure how this past week was going to show up on the scale because I used a good bit of my Weeklies.  Thankfully I ate enough fruits & veggies to even things out 😉
That’s all for now…enjoy the rest of your weekend 😀
Progress
Lots of progress has been made on my Rainbow Postage Stamp quilt… in fact, the top is DONE!!
Here are a few shots as I made progress – all colors are now completed
I pressed the seams open all through the process…doesn’t the backside look almost as good as the front? haha
Here the piecing has begun…
img_20190628_215639
And after I put the final stitches in last night there was enough light left outside for a quick picture! I had my final calculations off just a bit so the final top measure 90″ square (I know it looks long in this picture…I guess it’s just the angle)
Unfortunately I have to put this to the side for now and work on the memorial quilt 😉 I’ve been shopping online for wide fabric so I don’t need to piece the back but haven’t found anything I just have to have…oh well, more shopping for me!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In other news…I’ve made more progress at WW, I’m down 1.4 this week SQUEEEEEEEE! I can feel the difference in my clothes (they’re not so tight!) so I’m encouraged to keep going 🙂 We’ve been eating home a little more, I think that’s helping too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little more progress has been made at our other house – we finally got the storage unit emptied!! Woohoo, no more monthly bill for that! The estate sales company we hired moved all the sell-able stuff to the house and the sale will be held on the weekend of 7/20. Once that’s completed, we’ll see what’s left and decide whether to donate or dump it. DH talked with the buyer last week and he’s having his attorney start the paperwork to transfer the house – the closing will be some time the week of 8/19. They also agreed that we would take care of the lawn until the end of July and the new owner would be responsible after that.
It appears to be coming all together but I’ve learned a long time ago to never ‘count your chickens’ until they’re hatched, so I’ll ask for continued prayers and good thoughts for this to all work out ❤ 🙂
That’s all for now…have a great rest of your weekend!
