Merry Christmas

I usually post on Sundays but since it will be Christmas I figured I’d get my post done today.

We don’t have any big plans, it will be a quiet and VERY COLD day so we’ll just be snuggled up at home. Our friends from Florida that just moved here invited us for dinner but I had already bought all the fixins to make dinner here so we asked if we could come for dessert instead, so that’s what we’re going to do.

I got this notice from WordPress when I logged in today ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I did not remember registering on Christmas eve but I do recall I originally made this blog to record my efforts of trying to find a creative outlet so it makes sense that I registered close to the end of the year ๐Ÿ˜‚

I’ve made a little more progress on my Elephant Abstractions quilt… Wow it’s a lot of paper piecing! I knew that but it’s a real eye-opener once you get into it! LOL This is sections 1-20 completed, I hope to get more done today because I do not plan on leaving the house today with our frigid temps!! Currently 18 with wind chill of 4 ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿฅถ That’s gotta be a record for Myrtle Beach!!

I also finished Block 8 “Interwoven” for the Sewcialites2 QAL. The fabrics I selected really don’t do this design justice but I’m keeping it!

The wild turkeys returned this week, there were about 25 of them but I couldn’t get them all in the picture

That’s about all for now! I hope everyone has a safe, warm and Merry Christmas

It’s been a while…

I’ve been in a funk for the last few months – I’m attributing it to the overwhelm that comes with moving. I haven’t done much sewing & quilting since my last post in early November so there hasn’t been much to share…until now.

I knew I needed to spend some quality time in my sewing room to relax and stop obsessing over every little moving detail so I broke into my Vintage Holiday charm packs and followed Jenny Doan’s tutorial for charms on point. It’s a pretty neat trick and I love the result.

Here are a few in process shots and the finished quilt:

Believe it or not, I STILLย haven’t finished the commissioned memory quilt for my neighbor (uuuuuuugh!) that monster keeps haunting me!!! I think my issue is I don’t like the final size cuz it’s MUCH longer than it is wider (74×106). I keep telling myself to just push through and finish but the other voice says “fix it”…so I’m stuck until I decide what I’m going to do.

That’s all I have for now…

I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Blessed and Happy New Year ๐Ÿ™‚

Getting stuff done

I finished up the Trees quilt last week and posted it for sale on Facebook…so far no takers. No worries, I’ll hang on to it for a bit and if it doesn’t sell I’ll probably donate it. I’m not trying to create a business out of making quilts, I do it because I enjoy it…if I make a few bucks at it, well that’s just icing on the cake.

I was feeling the need for a quick finish so I pulled a charm pack I got in a Sew Sampler box and used the pattern provided to make this table runner. It’s not my aesthetic but I like how it turned out. Again, I put it up for sale on Facebook.

I had some half square triangle blocks left over so I’m making a coordinated hot pad to go with the table runner…still in process.

I also started another project with some Jolly Bar precuts from a Sew Sampler box…this time I used the Jolly Bar pattern book from a different box and I’m almost done putting this baby size top together

The weather here has been really mild and today will probably be the last day in the 50’s for the next 10 days so I’ll be getting out there the start week 4 of C25K. The running portions of the intervals will now start to increase…I’m excited to see how I’ll do!

And I decided to take the leap and sign up for another Half Marathon – the Myrtle Beach Mini. This is the same race I completed for my very first Half and my running buddies have a tradition of running it every year. I’ve skipped it for the last two years but figured since I’ll be living in MB I may as well sign up. The race is in October so I have PLENTY of time to train!

The rest of today will be spent watching football and later going to a few parties in the neighborhood.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope all your dreams come true!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Christmas Run

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!

After several days of indulging in all the Christmas treats I really needed to get out and run. After we opened our gifts (most of them were for our dog!), ate breakfast and cleaned up I went for my run. We have lovely weather today – 54 degrees with tons of sunshine! Yay, just what I asked Santa for!

I remembered to put my Garmin on and it was a good thing because for some reason the c25k app could not get a GPS signal – strange because my Garmin had no problem. Oh well! I decided I would run for as long as I could and then take a walk break. I turned on some cardio music and after my warm up I was off. I kept my pace right between 12:30 – 13:00 so I wouldn’t get winded or tired too quickly. I ran for 2.44 miles before I needed to stop to take a drink of water – woohoo! I only walked long enough to take a few gulps and then I started running again. I finished my run at 3.07 miles in 39 minutes – nice!! I was hoping to hit 3.1 exactly but I guess I’ll just have to try again next time ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was surprised how much more I enjoyed the run without the constant updates from the c25k app – note to self: maybe I should do that more often!!
